Lost & Found
Reuniting Pets with Owners
“ Pets are not our
Whole life...
But they make
Our lives whole ”
- We do our best to reunite lost pets with their owners.
- If an animal is missing, it is the owner's responsibility to contact the Humane Society immediately following the pet's disappearance.
- Since there are no laws regarding cats in Hancock County, they legally belong to the Humane Society immediately after surrendering. Dogs arriving to the shelter wearing a current year's license will be held for 14 days. Dogs without a current year's license will only be held for 72 hours before being screened for adoption; therefore, it is imperative to contact the Humane Society as soon as possible.
- We encourage all owners of missing pets to come in and see if your pet may be in our care.
- If you have made a lost or found report and the status of the animal changes, please contact the Humane Society.
- Reports are kept on file for 30 days. If you wish to renew your report, please contact the shelter.
- Fees will be charged to owner claim any animal surrendered to the shelter.
