Share-A-Pet Volunteers

Share-A-Pet

The Share-A-Pet Program brings animals and people together! Volunteers take animals that are currently available for adoption from the Humane Society to visit the residents of nursing and adult care facilities in Hancock County. It is a wonderful program for both the residents of the care facilities and the animals at the shelter. Many studies have shown that this type of therapy actually improves the mental and physical health of people of all ages. If you love animals and enjoy helping others, this would be a great volunteer opportunity for you!

The program runs every other month on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Fridays between the hours of 10:30 am and 3 pm . The time of the visits vary depending on the facility. For more information, please contact the volunteer coordinator at 419-423-1664.

Bingo Volunteers

WE NEED HELP! Volunteers are needed to help with our bingo fundraiser. Bingo is how we raise the majority of the money we use to operate the shelter. The money raised from the games is how we pay for things like vaccinations, cleaning supplies, utility bills, and staff. That is why it is so important that we have volunteers to run the games! Volunteering for bingo is a great way to really make a difference for our furry friends!

For every bingo session, it takes between 12 and 15 volunteers to operate a game. Volunteers are needed in the following areas:

  • Cashiers
  • Instant Ticket Sales
  • Call Backs
  • Pay Outs
  • Callers

Bingo games are held every Monday and Thursday evening in our Multipurpose Center. Volunteers can help as much or as little as they like. Even once a month is a huge help! If you are available and would like to help raise funds to benefit our shelter animals, please contact the volunteer coordinator at 419-423-1664.
